Our genetics and hatchery operations form the foundation of our production system, shaping survival, growth, feed efficiency, and disease resilience.
YHL has developed its own proprietary Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) genetic line of Pacific white shrimp, known as YHL Phi-Tik.
This line is bred using advanced molecular genetics, including single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and microsatellite analysis, with selection drawn from a diverse base of over 360 Litopenaeus vannamei families. The result is a robust, high-performance shrimp line designed for consistency, resilience, and long-term farming stability.
YHL Phi-Tik Broodstock and Post-Larvae are selectively bred to express the following performance traits:
Supporting efficient production cycles
Ensuring yield stability across farming conditions
With demonstrated tolerance against WSSV, EHP, and EMS
Adaptable to heat stress, high stocking density, salinity fluctuation, pH variation, and elevated ammonia levels
A brown base with maroon-toned antennae, walking legs, and tail, delivering strong visual quality post-harvest
By partnering with Thailand’s National Science and Technology Development Agency (“BIOTEC”), YHL analyzes desirable traits, identifies specific genetic markers, and breeds a unique genetic line (PHI-TIK) of Pacific white shrimp that is more disease-resistant, better adapted to stressful environments, and capable of achieving higher growth rates—producing up to four crops per year compared to the typical two.
